Life of St. Anthony - «Assidua»

by a Contemporary Franciscan

Life of Saint Anthony - AssiduaEditorial Reviews
The first biography of St. Anthony of Padua was written by an unknown, contemporary Franciscan friar. In answer to the requests of his confreres and in obedience to his superiors, he completed the Vita prima or Assidua for the canonization in 1232 which occurred only a year after Anthony's death. In humble fulfillment of his task, the author remained silent about himself but not about the confrere he sincerely venerated.
